SEASONS & EVERYDAY LIFE

Seattle in autumn, when everyday life changes color.

Autumn reaches beyond the trees. It settles along paths, gathers beside the water and redraws familiar streets. The warmth of a place often comes from changes that are gradual, tangible and easy to overlook.

A room beneath the canopy

Along the water, red, orange and lingering green overlap. Trunks give the path a rhythm; branches overhead create a room without enclosing it. People keep talking and walking through the scene. A memorable landscape makes space for ordinary life to continue.

02

Water and lawn leave room for the season

A curved edge guides the eye around the water. Trees, reflections and an open lawn balance one another, giving the autumn canopy room to register. The relationship between density and openness also belongs at home. A quiet wall or an uncluttered view can make changing light more noticeable.

Trees, planters and the sidewalk bring autumn into the everyday street.

Autumn continues into the street

The season crosses the park boundary. Street trees, a bend in the road and leaves underfoot bring movement, buildings and planting into one composition. A continuous canopy relates one stretch to the next, while planters and hedges keep the foreground close to the body. Streets can offer an experience as well as a route.

Keeping a place for the seasons

The lesson is more than a palette of autumn colors. It is how space can hold the passage of time. Grain in wood, light beside a window and a place to sit can keep daily life attentive to change. Warmth may come from a setting that invites a slower pace and a longer stay.
